The course aims to familiarize third year undergraduate students of semester 5 with the poetry genre , through establishing a basic grammar of reading poems , and helping them read and write about a seletion of poems from the Renaissance, the 17th century, the Romantic canon and Victorian poetry .
The course is a preparation for a more advanced course in Modern Poetry in semester 6.
